Free Meals for Students Effective 9/4/20

Information Regarding Avella Area District Breakfast and Lunch Program:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The USDA has approved schools to once again serve free breakfast and lunch to all students, including remote learning students, through the Summer Food Service Program. These meals are available for all families with any child(ren) age 18 and younger, until June 30, 2021.

Students will receive their meals during the buildings’ respective breakfast and lunch serving times.  Any student that wishes to participate in this program will receive their meals as normal.  The free meal service will begin Friday, September 4th.

This program is for all Avella children age 18 and under, and not just students who participate in the free and reduced lunch program. This would include non school age children. To ensure efficient service the district is requiring that families take the survey that has been placed on the left side of the cafeteria page on the district website, by each Thursday, to order meals for the following week.  The free meal service for remote students will begin Tuesday, September 8th.

Meal pickup will be available each Monday, or the first school day of the week, from 9:30 am to 10:00 am outside the high school cafeteria.  All meals for the week will be provided on the pickup day.  There will be no other pickup times during the week.  When picking up meals please stay in your vehicle, and meals will be distributed based on the number each family has requested.
